NC Update:
If you are eager to help, here is what we need. Western NC towns are lower on supplies. It would actually help us if groups from more than four hours away or more would load small Uhaul's with supplies and unload at specified staging locations. It also helps if we have churches from the Tennessee area becuase we cannot get through from this side. You can also get loads to Gastonia and we will get the loads to locations.
PLEASE SHARE. If you or your group decide to help, please contact Jerry Lumston or myself. We will point you to a location.
These are yesterday's needs though any eta would be welcomed. If you were to come with a team, we can point you in the direction of cleanup locations or areas to serve meals. Some areas are simply needing people to help salvage materials and cut brush off of homes.
1. Water (lots and lots, you cannot bring too much)
2. Water filtration systems
3. Camping Showers (lots - power will be out for most residents for an estimated six weeks; these homes are on well so no power means no water)
4. Wipes (for bathing purposes)
5. Diapers
6. Toilet paper and toiletries
7. Underwear and socks (new only)
8. Canned Food
9. Nonperishables
10. Foods individually wrapped (poptarts, beef jerky, snack bars)
11. Gas cans, if you can fill them up, all the better.
12. Blankets and pillows
13. Feminine products
14. Energy drinks and gatorades for lineworkers
15. Generators (if you bring a load, please include two generators in a load)
Get it to us in Gastonia (FWC) or McAdenville Wesleyan. Just drop it off under the awning if we are not there.
16. Dry pet foods
17. Antiseptics, antibiotic creams, first aid kits
18. Have your kids ministries make cards for people. We delivered some of these yesterday and they were quite the blessing.
